The Museum is near Metrorail (subway) stops on the Blue, Yellow, Orange, Silver, and Green lines.

The closest stations are L’Enfant Plaza (5 minute walk when you use Exit A) and Smithsonian (10 minute walk).

The Museum is two blocks from the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) stop at L’Enfant Plaza.

The nearest Maryland Area Rail Commuter (MARC) train or Amtrak stop is Union Station.

The Museum does not offer parking. 

There are limited metered parking spots and paid commercial parking lots nearby. You can use ParkWhiz to reserve a parking spot near the Museum in advance.

Bus parking is not available at our Washington, DC location. 

Curb lanes around the Museum on Independence Avenue and Jefferson Drive may be used for drop-offs and pickups only. Parking is not permitted. 

The Museum is within walking distance from other Smithsonian museums and popular destinations.

We are located between the National Museum of the American Indian and the Hirshhorn Museum. 

Motorized scooters are available to rent in Washington, DC.

There are bike racks available along the National Mall near the Smithsonian museums, although there are currently none at the National Air and Space Museum. 

E-bikes and bicycles are available to rent in Washington, DC, including from Capital Bikeshare.
