This boot is part of the pair that was worn by an unknown astronaut during training sessions prior to the lunar missions of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The International Latex Corporation made the boot which was worn over the boots which were integrated into the spacesuit, as protection against extreme temperatures and sharp rocks on the lunar surface.

It is made of a silicone rubber sole with woven stainless steel (Chromel-R) and beta cloth, with layers of beta felt in the sole as extra protection.

Donated to the National Air and Space Museum in 2003.
