Motion picture film depicting the second drop test of NASA's Surveyor, an unmanned lunar spacecraft designed by Hughes Aircraft Company and implemented by JPL.
The Surveyor program was a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) program implemented by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) that, between May 1966 and January 1968, launched seven unmanned lunar spacecraft designed and built by Hughes Aircraft Company. With five successful landings, the missions provided scientific and technological data needed for the Apollo manned missions. As part of testing and development, drop tests were conducted on the spacecraft to demonstrate the feasibility of lunar surface landings.
