On July 15, 1975, Apollo 18 and Soyuz 19 launched from the United States and the Soviet Union, respectively, to achieve the first docking of spacecraft from different nations two days later on July 17, 1975. This consists of one 8 by 10 inch color autographed photo of the Apollo-Soyuz crew, given as a gift from the crew to Yakow Lidsky (1901-1978).

The American crew included Thomas P. Stafford, Vance Brand, and Donald K. "Deke" Slayton, and the Soviet crew included the first man to walk in space, Aleksei Arkhipovich Leonov, and Valeri Nikolayevich Kubasov.
